THE Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) and Longgang District Government signed a framework Dec. 29 to work closely in fields such as scientific and technological innovation, education, medical care and talent exchange.
It is reported that the two sides will work together in constructing the Dayun Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Scientific Education Town.
The two sides will also work on developing medical care together and make cross-border medical care more convenient.
CUHK-SZ will use its ample resources from Hong Kong to advance Longgang’s technological innovation and industrial development while Longgang will provide accessibility for teachers and students with the school, according to the agreement.
Longgang District will work closely with CUHK-SZ to build Longgang Central Hospital and Longgang District People’s Hospital into affiliated hospitals to CUHK-SZ.
The new hospitals will use technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data, in conducting medical research.
In addition, the district will also enhance its support in building a whole chain of education through the construction of think tanks and make full use of the resources provided by CUHK-SZ.
Xu Yangsheng, president of CUHK-SZ, said at the signing ceremony that the cooperation will further strengthen the bond between the school and the district.
Xu hopes that CUHK-SZ will become an innovation power in Longgang District. CUHK-SZ will make full use of its talent resource to build a group of high-end think tanks, build a batch of scientific research platforms and incubation bases to support the district’s innovative development and cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
He also appreciated Longgang’s support to the school over the past seven years. (Shenzhen Daily)
