An agricultural drone flies over a rice paddy in Xili, Nanshan District on Sunday. The drone was used to spray the field with microorganisms to improve and repair the soil environment. Media reports said that the 30-acre (12-hectare) paddy has been planted with super hybrid rice that can grow up to 2 meters high. The rice was developed by the team led by the late Yuan Longping, the Chinese scientist known as the “father of hybrid rice,” who died last year from multiple organ failure at age 91. Agricultural science education activities will be held at the Xili field in the coming harvest season. (Shenzhen Daily)
