A Chinese egret (Egretta eulophotes) is seen wading in the water at Futian Mangrove Ecological Park on May 4. The protected species is spotted by Shenzhen University’s birding survey team when the team members conducted birding observation at the mangrove’s No. 2 pond. The bird species, which is on the Level-I national protection list, is distinct from the other species in the Ardeidae family by their yellow beaks and toes. (Shenzhen Daily)
