IN recent years, Shenzhen has expedited the construction of the city’s parks to build itself into a city of flowers. In terms of park services, a total of 25 book bars thus far have been built inside public parks across the city, according to the city’s park management center.
Book bars located in parks provide a fabulous place for residents wandering through the parks to rest, read books and experience cultural activities.
A new leisure space including a small library, located on Hexian Island in Honghu Park in Luohu District, officially opened last month. The small library, jointly built by Honghu Park and Shenzhen Children’s Library, provides over 10,000 books of different types such as children’s picture books and literature for adolescents.
Other popular book bars include the ones in Shenzhen Bay Park in Nanshan District and Xiangmi Park in Futian District.
Coming soon, a Chinese rose-themed book bar will be built in the People’s Park in Luohu District and a red history-themed book bar will be built in Yangtai Mountain Forest Park, according to the city’s park management center.
Meanwhile, convenient facilities have also been added to book bars or libraries in the city to help citizens return borrowed books easily and to enhance their reading experience。 (Shenzhen Daily)
