A number of fishing boats sail out from Nan’ao in Dapeng New Area in Shenzhen to the South China Sea yesterday as the 108-day summer fishing moratorium ended. Dapeng authorities have called on fishing boats to keep clear of the waters near Dapeng Bay where whale “Xiaobu” frequents for its protection. The fishing ban in the South China Sea began in 1999, which is aimed at protecting the ocean’s ecosystem and biodiversity from excessive fishing. (Shenzhen Daily)
