DAPENG New Area published its first Green Map on Saturday, the 5oth World Environment Day.
The Green Map is a regional guide map used for the Dapeng Nature Class — an event organized by the Dapeng New Area General Office.
This four-season-themed Dapeng Nature Class has been held for four years. During the nature class, participants get to take part in different activities, like traveling with insects, protecting the coastline, observing the natural environment at Daya Bay and visiting the looking glass trees, also known as heritiera littoralis dryand, and shrubs in Baguang.
With the map, participants can experience the biodiversity of the ecological environment in Dapeng and become more familiar with the locations and features of almost 20 ecological bases in the new area, including Shenzhen China National GeneBank, Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shenzhen Astronomical Observatory and Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant.
The map also provides useful information such as consultation phone numbers, service time and ways for reservations for visits to the bases.
The Green Map and a set of postcards depicting 10 common animals and plants in Dapeng peninsular for the Dapeng Nature Class have already been launched and are available now.
Dapeng enjoys rich natural resources and variety of natural science institutions. However, the public often had little to no knowledge of these places.
Since 2018, the Dapeng general office has cooperated with other related departments, enterprises, institutions and social organizations to integrate natural educational resources and create an ecological education program. Nearly 20 bases in the new area were designated as locations for the program.
The program aims to encourage children and adolescents to join in and help further raise parents’ interest in protecting nature. The Dapeng Nature Class was awarded as one of the 2020 top 10 creative programs in Shenzhen. (Shenzhen Daily)
