Expats pose for a group photo after a Chinese class at Nanshan International Cultural Exchange & Service Center yesterday. During the class, Linda Lin, a teacher with 19 years’ experience teaching Chinese as a foreign language, taught students terms and customs related to the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls tomorrow, before a zongzi tasting session. Expat students were offered three different flavors of zongzi, which are dumplings made of glutinous rice filled with various ingredients like meats and vegetables and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. At the end of the class, the center also gave the expats traditional Chinese fans in line with the folk custom of giving fans during the Dragon Boat Festival. (Shenzhen Daily)
