An installation in the shape of a whale is on display. As a coastal city, Shenzhen has contributed a lot toward marine protection. The whale installation symbolizes the connection between Shenzhen and the sea and reminds us of the importance of the ocean’s crucial role in our ecosystem.

THIS winter, dazzling blooms, creative installations and stunning landscape gardens are enchanting floral aficionados as the annual 2021 Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show opened at Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District on Saturday.

The flower show has several exhibition zones. In the future garden, visitors can admire floral designs created jointly by university students and the park. The 12 district-level areas in the city, including Dapeng New Area, Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone and Qianhai, created 12 themed gardens, which are being displayed in the city garden.

A total of 270 potted bougainvillea flowers of different species and bougainvillea-featured works created by 120 horticultural experts and residents are being displayed in the exquisite garden.

During the flower show which runs until early December, visitors can also enjoy educational activities, creative performances, and shopping at the show’s flea market.

Initiated in 1999, the Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show is one of the key events for this year’s Park Culture Season that will end in March next year.
