Tourist attractions unveil holiday events

A NUMBER of well-known tourist attractions in Shenzhen unveiled their special Spring Festival events they will hold in celebration of China’s most important traditional festival with tourists and visitors.

Shenzhen Happy Valley will kick off a New Year Burlesque Festival on Tuesday. The festival will invite international burlesque masters to hold more than 30 shows every day until Feb. 6. During the festival, there will also be six dragon and lion dance performances daily, as well as New Year markets in the amusement park.

Tourists can enjoy the discounted 180-yuan (US$28.4) adult ticket before Monday and the 499-yuan ticket package for two adults and one child before Feb. 7.

The Window of the World theme park will hold an international street art festival from Monday to Feb. 15, where street artists from all over the world will show their unique eye-dazzling skills to the public.

To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, Window of the World will decorate its entire scenic area with a series of tiger-themed elements, including tiger dolls, tiger-shaped lanterns and a blessing wall.

In addition, at night, there will be music and dance dramas to present a visual feast to the audience.

Neighboring Splendid China theme park will feature a float parade-themed event from Tuesday to Feb. 6. A fleet of 10 Chinese mythology or Chinese culture-theme floats like “Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix,” armillary sphere and the “Legend of the Chinese Mermaid” will parade through an 800-meter cruise route in the park.

Splendid China will also invite acrobats and artists of lion dance and classic Chinese tricks to showcase the charm of Chinese culture. In addition, visitors can experience how minority groups celebrate the Spring Festival, visit a 300,000-square-meter lantern sea and taste over 100 folk cuisines and snacks.

OH Bay in Bao’an District will have New Year markets, lion dances and live music parties during the holiday. Visitors can also enjoy daily Ferris wheel light shows and ground-level light and water shows.

At the park’s commercial street, consumers who spend a certain amount of money can receive a Year of the Tiger gift box and tickets to the Bay Glory Ferris wheel. (Shenzhen Daily)
