Tens of thousands of lotus flowers, or water lilies, are in full bloom at Honghu Park in Luohu District, the main venue of the Shenzhen lotus flower show, bringing summer vibes to the city.
The 33rd Shenzhen Lotus Show officially kicked off today and will last through June 30.
This year’s lotus flower show features the park’s main lotus pool, spanning an area of 150,000 square meters. It offers three tour routes to ensure that visitors have a diverse and enjoyable experience.
The lotus flower show is also promoting Macao’s lotus flower festival for the first time, fostering a shared appreciation for lotus flowers among people in the two cities.
Visitors are advised to start from the park’s east gate, which serves as the main entrance of the flower show. From there, they can explore Honghu (the lake) located in the park’s southern zone, or take a stroll through the Lotus Flower Admiration Garden, which is displaying over 700 different species of lotus, including some varieties imported from Thailand and Vietnam.
There is also a bazaar with nearly 50 booths offering drinks, creative cultural products, plants and flowers. Visitors can also hang around the HI Honghu art gallery located at the park’s east gate. The art gallery consists of two stories, encompassing a total floor area of some 2,200 square meters.
During the flower show, over 70 lotus flower-themed activities will be organized, including a lotus music festival and a reading night event. Some of the activities require advance booking through the official WeChat account at mlszgzh.
Honghu Park’s parking lots will remain closed until the conclusion of the flower show. However, visitors can reach the park via public transportation by taking Metro Line 7 and alighting at Honghu Station. (Shenzhen daily)
